Factory Field Notes

About the show

The real work behind modern manufacturing.

Factory Field Notes is a podcast for the people who actually make things run — controls engineers, technicians, integrators, and the plant leaders who depend on them. No vendor pitches, no theory for theory's sake. Just the real questions and the honest answers.

The format

The backbone of the show is the Q&A week. We pull the sharpest, most-debated questions from the r/PLC community and the field — the legacy PLC-5 nobody wants to touch, the IT/OT skills gap, whether the career is worth building — and work through them one by one.

Who it's for

If you program, wire, commission, or maintain industrial systems — or you're trying to break into the field — this is your field journal. Expect practical, experience-backed takes from someone who has run the lines, not just read about them.

Who's behind it

Factory Field Notes is hosted by Vladimir Romanov, founder of Joltek and SolisPLC and a former P&G and Kraft Heinz engineering leader. Read his full background →
